Axel Disasi shared a photo revealing how the London club treats players who are no longer wanted—bordering on humiliating
Chelsea defender Axel Disasi has pulled back the curtain on life inside the club’s notorious ‘bomb squad’.
The French centre-back spent the latter half of last season on loan at Aston Villa and is not part of Enzo Maresca’s first-team plans at Stamford Bridge.
Disasi is among several senior players sidelined from first-team training as the club sorts out their futures. On Friday night, he shared a series of pre-season photos on Instagram, simply captioning them: "Life."
Axel Disasi posted this on his Instagram page (it's still there).

The brutal side of the Chelsea 'bomb squad'.
I'd argue no footballer deserves to be treated this way, but certainly not Alfie Gilchrist. He's done nothing wrong since making his #cfc debut. pic.twitter.com/fmWMut5XOK
One snap offered a rare look inside the so-called ‘bomb squad’ room—a modest, spartan space with wooden benches, two windows, and a wall-mounted air-conditioning unit.
The setup, stripped of luxury, looked more like a non-league dressing room than a Premier League facility, a stark contrast to the opulent surroundings Chelsea’s stars typically enjoy. Above the benches, plaques bearing the names of Ben Chilwell, Carney Chukwuemeka, Lesley Ugochukwu—who has since moved to Burnley—and Disasi marked ownership of the space.
In another corner, Alfie Gilchrist was pictured with his hands on his head, appearing dejected.
The "bomb squad" refers to Chelsea's unwanted players they're trying to offload. Axel Disasi posted an Instagram photo of their sparse dressing room—grey, with wooden benches and hooks, like a school gym. Visible names: Disasi, Chukwuemeka, Ugochukwu, Chilwell, Broja, Gilchrist.…

The 21-year-old came through Chelsea’s academy before making his senior debut under Mauricio Pochettino in 2023. He spent last season on loan at Sheffield United, but the move was not made permanent.
Chelsea had 43 players report for pre-season, and several have already moved on.
