32-year-old Kerr is regarded as one of Australia's greatest athletes, and boasts of a stellar career that has seen her compete in the biggest tournaments including: the FIFA Women’s World Cup, Olympics, and the UEFA Champions League.
Cattley, meanwhile, remains a key figure for Arsenal - the club she joined in 2020- and helped them win the UEFA Champions League title against favorites Barcelona last May.
The star duo form a large part of a fairly consistent Matildas team, which involves nineteen members of the squad involved in last month’s AFC Women’s Asian Cup campaign, which Australia lost in the final to Japan.
Some other big names miss out on the squad however, with Chelsea right back Ellie Carpenter, Manchester City midfielder Mary Fowler, and West Ham captain Katrina Gorry all rested given their increased work-load.
On the other hand, Melbourne City’s Leticia McKenna makes her squad debut, with Jessika Nash (US Sassuolo) and Isabel Gomez (Central Coast Mariners) returning to international duty for the first time since the June/July 2025 and May/June 2025 FIFA International Series respectively.
Australia play Malawi in their first game of the FIFA Series on Saturday, 11 April at the Nyayo National Stadium, before meeting either Kenya’s Harambee Starlets or fellow Asian representatives India on Wednesday, 15 April at the same venue.
Harambee Starlets unveiled their provisional squad for the friendlies on Tuesday, 31 March.
