The winner of the two-legged clash plays the victor between Cameroon and Ethiopia in the final round to book a place in the global competition set for Morocco later in the year
Kenya U 17 Women's national team coach Mildred Cheche has disclosed Junior Starlets' mission ahead of their clash with Uganda in Kampala.
Kenya begins her U17 World Cup journey with a tie against Uganda after receiving a bye in the first round of qualification. Uganda, on the other hand, thrashed Namibia’s Baby Gladiators 18-1 on aggregate to book a date with the Cheche-coached girls.
The first leg between the two neighboring East African countries will take place on Saturday 8 March 2025 in Uganda with Kenya hosting the second leg in Nairobi on Sunday 16 March 2025.
Speaking after the team's final training session before departing the country, Cheche revealed how her team will approach the first leg match and what they target in Uganda.
“Playing away is tough but we are ready. We are expecting a positive result. If we get the three points, good for us. If we cannot, we are pushing for at least one point,” Cheche told FKF Media
Cheche who created history by taking Kenya to her first World Cup in 2024 expressed her confidence in the current squad’s ability to win the match and do even better than the squad that participated in the last World Cup.
“This team is always blessed, they work hard, they are motivated, and are ready to play every match. We are in high spirits and the team is ready,” she stated.
Junior Starlets departed the country on Thursday 6 March, where FKF vice president McDonald Mariga was present to motivate and see them off.
