After a month-long tournament, the curtains of the 2024 CHAN tourney are set to be drawn on Saturday, 30 August, with a match pitting Madagascar against Morocco.

The highly anticipated clash, which will be succeeded by the closing ceremony, will be played at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, in Nairobi, Kenya.

Despite hosts Kenya not taking part in the final, the 48,000-seater facility has already been sold out, a testament to the enthusiasm of the Kenyan fans.

Tickets for the match were retailing at Ksh200 for regular and Ksh500 for silver. As usual, VIP and VVIP tickets were not on sale as they are a preserve of CAF and Local Organising Committee (LOC) guests.

This is peculiar as the tournament has witnessed largely empty stadiums in matches hosted in Tanzania and Uganda that do not involve the host nations.

During the semi-final match between Madagascar and Sudan played on Tuesday, 26 August at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam, the stadium looked largely empty, a matter that saw Tanzanian fans criticised on social media, especially by their Kenyan counterparts.

The case was the same at the Nelson Mandela Stadium (Namboole) in Kampala, Uganda, when Morocco played Senegal on the same day in the second semi-final.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino is set to be the Chief Guest in the final, a fate that would mark his first-ever appearance at a tournament in Kenya

On the entertainment front, there will be an after-party featuring top musicians from the three 2024 CHAN hosts nations; Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.

Kenyan artist Savara will be joined by Ugandan sensation Eddy Kenzo and Tanzanian singer Zuchu.

Harambee Stars were eliminated at the quarter-final stage by the finalists, Madagascar. After a 1-1 draw on both regular and extra time, Kenya suffered a 3-4 defeat in post-match penalties to be knocked out of the biennial continental tourney.
