The 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) concluded on Saturday, August 30, at Kasarani Stadium in Nairobi, with Morocco edging Madagascar 3-2 to clinch a historic third continental title.

Beyond the title, Morocco once again dominated the scoring charts, continuing a trend that has seen its players claim the Golden Boot in three of the last four editions.
Golden Boot: Oussama Lamlioui (Morocco)
Oussama Lamlioui emerged as the Puma Top Scorer of the CHAN PAMOJA 2024 after netting his fifth and sixth goals in the final against Madagascar.
The RS Berkane forward struck in the 44th and 80th minutes to seal victory and secure his place as the tournament’s leading marksman.
He finished ahead of South Africa’s Thabiso Kutumela, Uganda’s Allan Okello, and Algeria’s Soufiane Bayazid, who each scored three goals.

Lamlioui had earlier scored against Zambia, DR Congo, and hosts Tanzania, and converted in the semi-final shootout win over Senegal.
In total, the 29-year-old registered five goals and one assist in four matches.
Most Valuable Player (MVP):
Morocco’s Mohamed Rabie Hrimat was named the Man of the Competition at the African Nations Championship (CHAN) PAMOJA 2024 after captaining his side to a record third title.
The Atlas Lions skipper was central to Morocco’s campaign, scoring twice, creating two goals, and providing consistent leadership in midfield. His performances reaffirmed his status as one of Africa’s finest home-based players.

Hrimat’s influence was felt early in the tournament. He earned the Player of the Match award in the group-stage clash against Angola and repeated the feat in the quarter-final win over Tanzania.
By the conclusion of the tournament, the midfielder had directly contributed to four goals, two goals and two assists, each at decisive moments that propelled Morocco to the title.
His presence ensured the team struck the right balance between defensive discipline and attacking ambition.
Golden Glove: Marc Diouf (Senegal)
Senegal’s Marc Diouf was named Best Goalkeeper of the tournament after leading the Lions of Teranga to a bronze medal finish.
The 26-year-old Teungueth FC shot-stopper delivered commanding performances, combining sharp reflexes with calm leadership throughout the competition.
His standout moment came in the third-place play-off against Sudan, where his penalty save from Musab Makeen proved decisive in a 4-2 shootout win after a 1-1 draw.
Diouf featured in every match for Senegal, keeping a clean sheet in the 1-0 victory over Nigeria and the barren draw against Sudan. He his composure in a tense quarter-final against Uganda they they also emerged victorious.
Even in the semi-final defeat to Morocco, where Senegal fell 5-3 on penalties after a 1-1 draw, his consistency was widely praised.
His heroics in the bronze medal clash reaffirmed his reputation as one of Africa’s finest emerging goalkeepers and showed his central role in Souleymane Diallo’s youthful squad.
