The league is still in its embryonic stage, with only seven rounds of matches played so far, but already some of the teams have made changes in the players' leadership structure due to various reasons.

Mozzart Sport dug deep and compiled a list of all the captains and assistants of all the teams in the league.

Gor Mahia - Philemon Otieno

Kenyan giants Gor Mahia have once again put their trust in Philemon Otieno to lead the playing unit.

The right back is one of the longest-serving players in the team, having joined the club in 2017 from the now-defunct Ushuru FC as a defensive midfielder before transitioning to his current position.

Otieno has had a successful career at K’Ogalo that includes six league titles, one Mozzart Bet Cup and earned a place in the Harambee Stars squad that represented Kenya at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The 32-year-old has captained the club since February 2022 following the departure of Kenneth Muguna.

The soft-spoken player will be assisted by Harambee Stars playmaker Austin Odhiambo, Geoffrey Ochieng and Gad Mathews.

AFC Leopards - Victor Omune

Having joined the club in 2021, Omune is one of the long-serving players at AFC Leopards and will be tasked to lead the team this season.

The 32-year-old takes over from Clifton Miheso, who left the club just before the start of the new season.

The former Kariobangi Sharks striker will be assisted by Ken Owino, who held a similar role at Posta Rangers.

Shabana FC - George Onyango

As for Shabana FC, the playing unit will be led by experienced defender George Onyango, who will be ably assisted by the team’s marksman Brian Michira.

The two will be required to bring together the playing unit and join hands with the technical bench to help in steering the team to what would be their maiden league title.

Tusker FC - Charles Momanyi

For the Brewers, they made changes to the playing unit in order to reclaim the league title, but will once again be led this season by experienced defender Charles Momanyi.

The former Gor Mahia defender will be deputised by his central defense partner, Tom Teka, and together they will be hoping to foster harmony and unity in the dressing room.

Kakamega Homeboyz - Moses Mudavadi

Mozzart Bet-sponsored Kakamega Homeboyz will once again be led by veteran winger Moses Mudavadi, who will be assisted by Eston Omengo.

Nairobi United - Daniel Bichiok

Reigning Mozzart Bet Cup champions Nairobi United will be led by South Sudanese midfielder Daniel Bichiok. The role makes the 18-year-old the youngest skipper in the league.

Bichiok, who was tipped to make a move away from the club during the off-season before the deal collapsed, will be deputised by former Sofapaka defender John Otieno and Lesley Otieno.

Kenya Police FC - David ‘Cheche’ Ochieng

The reigning FKF Premier League champions have a new captain this season in the name of Harambee Stars defender David “Cheche” Ochieng.

The veteran defender takes over from Musa Mohammed, who left the club mid-last season. Ochieng will be assisted by South Sudan international Charles Ouma.

Ulinzi Stars - Brian Birgen

Just like it was the case last season, the 2010 league champions will be captained by the long-serving Brian Birgen and Harambee Stars winger Boniface Muchiri.

Mathare United - Brian Ochieng

The Slum Boys are one of the teams that have new faces in leadership, led by former KCB FC midfielder Brian ‘Rio’ Ochieng and Sammy Imbunye.

Bandari - Andrew Juma

Coastal side Bandari FC received a major boost in their season’s ambitions with the return of captain Andrew Juma, who had spent over a season nursing a knee injury.

Juma will be assisted by Beja Nyamawi and speedy winger Abdalla Hassan to lead the team to a possible league victory.

KCB FC - Nahashon Alembi

For the Bankers, they will be under the care of Nahashon Alembi, who took over the captain duties after Michael Mutinda left the club in the off-season.

Veteran midfielder Humphrey Mieno, who captained Tusker FC and Sofapaka, will serve as the vice captain.

Murang’a Seal - John Kiplang’at

For seal, they have resorted to the experienced John Kiplang’at to lead the team and Joseph (Joe) Waithira to serve as his assistant.

APS Bomet - Duke Muhoro

League newbies APS Bomet will be captained by Duke Muhoro, with Sven Yidah, who joined the club in the off-season transfer window, serving as his assistant.

Sofapaka - Victor Okello

Following the exit of key players, including captain Humphrey Mieno, Sofapaka will now be led by Victor Okello, who will be assisted by Roy Okal.

Mara Sugar FC - Drona Langa

For their second successive season, Mara Sugar FC have maintained the team's leadership of captain Drona Langa and his assistant David Owino.

Kariobangi Sharks -Kevin Luke Otiala

Kevin Luke Otiala will continue with his service as Kariobangi Sharks captain, and this time will be assisted by the team's legend Patila Omoto.

Bidco United - David Kalama

As for Bidco United, the playing unit will be led by David Kalama and assisted by Thomas Wainaina and Dennis Murunga.
