The Cameroonian shone on his debut for the Turkish Trabzonspor despite a defeat, and carried on the tradition that Red Devils' players thrive once they leave Old Trafford
During the recently finished transfer window, Man United did a clean-up and got rid of almost all the unnecessary players - or at least those who weren't at the club's level in the fans' eyes.
The last pair of removed players were Rasmus Hojlund and Andre Onana, who were both loaned to Napoli and Trabzonspor, respectively.
Whether anticipated or not, the Dane scored on his debut with the Neapolitans and carried on the tradition that United's players thrive once they leave Old Trafford (just look at Scott McTominay, Marcus Rashford, and Antony's examples). However, hardly anyone expected the same phoenix-like rise of Onana, especially after his performance in the EFL Cup defeat to Grimsby, when he was marked as one of the tragic figures.
Well, believe it or not, the Cameroonian shone on his debut in the Turkish Super Lig as well, winning the Man of the Match award even though his team lost!
ONANA has been vindicated 🤣

The custodian impressed in Trabzon's 1-0 defeat to Fenerbahce, making eight saves and preventing 1.63 goals, according to the in-depth statistics! Moreover, Onana's team had been a man down since the 20th minute, and the goal he conceded in the last minute before the break was a tap-in after his terrific save.
Perhaps it's a coincidence that Onana delivered a stellar performance the moment he "freed from United's shackles". But what if it isn't? What does it tell us about the club from the Theatre of Dreams?
