Yanga will drop to the CAF Confederation Cup Playoffs.
It was a perfect Sunday for North African sides as neither suffered defeat in the CAF interclub competitions with reigning Champions League winners Wydad Casablanca progressing to the Group Stages in style.
Wydad went into the clash against Nigerian champions Rivers United needing nothing short of a win after suffering a shock 2-1 loss in the first leg.
Bouly Sambou and Yahya Jabrane sealed braces as Ayoub El Amloud and Hamid Ahadad completed the 6-0 rout in the clash with Mutawakilu Seidu being sent off in the 37th minute for Rivers United.
Reigning Tanzania Premier League champions Yanga crashed out of the Champions League following a 1-0 away loss against Sudanese giants Al Hilal with the former dropping to the CAF Confederation Cup.
Yanga were in pursuit of a win in the clash after staging a 1-1 draw at home but Mohamed Abdelrahman’s strike in the third minute was enough to settle the tie and sink the Tanzanian side.
Simba on the other hand ensured their progression to the Group Stages of the Champions League following a 1-0 win over Angolan giants Primeiro de Agosto after a 3-1 win away from home in the first leg.
In the CAF Confederation Cup, AS Kigali, home to Kenyan duo of Peter Odhiambo and Lawrence Juma suffered elimination after Libyan side Al Nasr needed just a goal to progress in the tie.
Muguna’s Azam were knocked out of the tournament despite a 2-0 win over Libyan side Al Akhdar but the damage was already done in the first leg with the latter winning 3-0.
Club Africain were the biggest winners on Sunday after annihilating Zanzibari minnows Kipanga 7-0 following a barren draw in the first leg.
