CAFCC: Sven Yidah and Lokale make through to the Group Stage

Kenyan internationals Sven Yidah and Sydney Lokale will be playing in the CAF Confederation Cup after Marumo Gallants and FC Saint-Éloi Lupopo respectively qualified for the Group Stages.

Both players will be making their debut in the competition with Yidah coming close to achieving the feat back in 2019 but Kariobangi Sharks suffered elimination at the Second Preliminary Round.

Gallants booked their place in the Group Stages after a massive 3-0 win over Libyan side Al Ahly Tripoli, advancing though with a 3-1 aggregate victory.

Monde Mpambaniso opened the scoring for Gallants after 10 minutes of action while Celimpilo Ngema put them in a commanding lead five minutes later.

Ranga Chivaviro put the game beyond Al Ahly three minutes after the resumption of the second half with Yidah being introduced for Lebohang Mabotja in the 82nd minute.

Sydney Lokale on the other hand was missing from the match day squad as his Saint-Éloi Lupopo side edged Rail Club du Kadiogo 1-0 to advance with a 2-0 aggregate win.

Substitute Jean-Marc Makusu notched the lone goal of the match in the 75th minute to ensure his side book a place in the competition’s Group Stages for the first time since 2006.

Elsewhere Yanga had Stephane Aziz Ki to thank after his strike ensured their progression to the Group Stages of the tournament for only the third time in their history.
