Kakamega Homeboyz defender Brian Bulleti is motivated after playing his first match of the season in Homeboyz's 5-0 thumping of Sofapaka.

Bulleti made his first appearance of the campaign, coming in place of Potiphar Odhiambo, who missed the clash due to a knee injury.

The defender's last start was an away tie in January 2023 against Bidco United in the previous season, in which the two sides squared out to a one-all draw.

Bulleti has largely been down the pecking order due to the presence of Brian Wekesa and Eric Ambunya, who have been regular starters.

The youthful defender was slotted in the right-back position and did not disappoint, capping off Homeboyz's big win with a clean sheet.

Speaking after Friday's win, the former St. Peter's Mumias Boys alumni says he was thrilled to feature in the match, which was his first after a long while.

"I am happy to have been involved on Friday for the very first time this season. I am equally glad and motivated that I was able to clock full minutes, help the team win, and keep a clean sheet at the back," he stated.

The player who adds up as a utility player as he is able to play at the centre-back and defensive midfielder positions admitted that there is high competition in the team but remained optimistic about maintaining his starting spot.

"I must admit that competition has been so high, and that explains why there have been a couple of changes in the matchday squad in the most recent matches played. Going by Friday's performance, I hope to be able to keep my place in the first team," he added.

Bulleti applauded his fellow teammates for putting on a great show against Sofapaka and urged them to continue with the same momentum after the FIFA break.

"We displayed one of our best performances so far in the season on Friday, and I must commend my teammates for their collective efforts. I equally want to urge them to carry on from Sofapaka's win into our next matches after the break," he concluded.
