Buleti welcomes new role at Kakamega Homeboyz

Kakamega Homeboyz midfielder Brian Buleti is enjoying the new role coach Patrick Odhiambo has handed him in the team.

The young central midfielder had been used as a right-back in the last two league matches against Sofapaka and Ulinzi Stars

Odhiambo was forced to redeploy Buleti to the defense line following the unavailability of Brian Wekesa, who is nursing an injury.

Despite coming up against one of the best wingers in the league in the two matches he has played as a right-back, Buleti has not found the going tough as Homeboyz have kept clean sheets in both.

"When the coach told me to prepare for right-back duties, I knew my chance to play had come. I have enjoyed both matches and am looking forward to the forthcoming ones," said Buleti.

The midfielder attributed his past experience at St. Peter's High School to his seamless adaptation to defensive duties.

"The new role isn't entirely foreign to me, as I played a right back in school. I have also trained as a right back with the team before," he stated.

Homeboyz lost their first-choice right-back, Collins Odhiambo, to Tusker in the off-season transfer window, forcing Odhiambo to remodel Wekesa from a center-back to a full-back.

Abana Abeingo have been a roll in the last three matches, as they have secured maximum points, kept clean sheets, and scored eight goals.

The recent run of results has seen the Mozzart Bet-sponsored team shoot to fourth place, four points within reach of the summit.

Buleti believes that the team is headed in the right direction, and it is just a matter of time before taking control of the standings.

"We are progressing well after a difficult start to the season. We want to be at the top of the table and maintain the good run," he added.

Homeboyz are scheduled to host Bidco United this weekend at Bukhungu Stadium, seeking their third home win.
