Ulinzi Stars coach Anthony Kimani has attributed their loss to Kakamega Homeboyz to a lapse in concentration in the dying minutes of their game.

Homeboyz beat Ulinzi 1-0 on Saturday at the Lang'ata Sports Complex to bag their third win in a row that lifted them to fourth place on the log.

Tanzanian forward Oscar Adam Paul scored the match winner a few seconds before the final whistle to condemn the struggling Ulinzi to their third straight loss.

Reacting to the defeat, Kimani pointed to the loss of concentration in the defence when it mattered most for the dropped points in the game and the previous two against Kenya Police and Bidco United.

"The lapses in concentration have been recurring. We matched them in all departments but unfortunately lost attention late in the game and conceded."

Kimani, who succeeded Bernard Mwalala before the season began, also lamented that clear-cut scoring chances went begging.

"We created but couldn't score from the chances," he rued.

With matches coming thick and fast, the former Kenyan international proposed pep talk to cure the loss of attention on the pitch.

"We are trying to uplift them and their confidence levels. When players lose back-to-back matches, they start doubting themselves. We are trying our best to instill more confidence in them," he said.

The former Bandari tactician also revealed plans to address some of their shortcomings on the pitch, including sharpening the forward line.

"We have the quality to turn things around. We need to work harder and rectify mistakes," he added.
