The winger has been out of action for close to two seasons

Former Zoo FC winger Brian Asewe is eager to clock in more minutes after shaking off an ACL injury that saw him sit out of action for over a season.

Asewe sealed a return to competitive football after putting pen to paper with APS Bomet FC last weekend.

The speedy winger previously featured for the Bomet based club in the 2021-2022 season, coincidentally, in what was to be his last competitive season.

The Black Berets too resumed activities on Saturday with a 2-0 easy run over league new comers Kiminini Combined though the injury saw the former Nairobi Stima forward watch from the stands.

Asewe who is expected to resume training this week says he is upbeat to fight for playing time heading to round two of FKF Division One matches.

"I am glad to have made a return to football after that hectic time, am way ahead of the treatment schedule and soon I will be joining the rest in training sessions. I am looking forward to fighting for the team in league matches," he told Mozzart Sport.

The former Nzoia Sugar player has set higher his targets for the season once he is declared fit to wrestle on the green grass once again.

The lethal dribbler has challenged himself to top the goal creators’ chart as well as guiding Aps Bomet back to National Super League at the end of the 2023-2024 season.

"My biggest target is to take APS Bomet back to NSL and top Div. One assists list because that's where my strength is," he added.

Asewe is however, aware of the competition in the team following the incoming of young talented players at the club.

In his absence, the tactician had to pair Evans Kipkemboi and Eliakim Musamba in the department with youngster Lawrence Kibet also bidding for more play time.

"I am aware there is competition for playing time and more so in my position but I am ready to confront it head on," offered Asewe.
