The striker hurt his ankle in their 3-3 draw away to Kakamega Homeboyz, and has missed six of their last league games
FC Talanta striker Erick Ombija has resumed training after recovering from an ankle injury that had kept him on the sidelines for more than a month.
Ombija hurt his ankle in their 3-3 draw away to Kakamega Homeboyz last month, a setback that saw him miss six league matches.
The game against Homeboyz saw Ombija become the first player to score a hat-trick this season, but he was unfortunate to pick up an injury in the closing stages of the contest.
He sat out in their 3-1 win over Posta Rangers, 3-0 triumph over Sofapaka, 2-0 humbling of Muhoroni Youth, and the recent draw against Bandari at the Mbaraki Grounds.
He also missed the barren draw against Nzoia Sugar and the 1-1 result away to Kenya Police.
Ombija told Mozzart Sport that he was cleared by the medical team, and subsequently resumed training last week.
He will, however, miss Saturday's clash against Ulinzi at St. Sebastian Ground.
"It feels good to be back on the team after shaking off the injury. I can't wait to be fit enough to get minutes," said Ombija.
Before the injury struck, the former Nairobi City Stars striker had four league goals, making him the best scorer at the club.
Ombija will take consolation in the fact that the league's leading scorer, Benson Omala of Gor Mahia, is within touching distance, as he has seven goals against his name.
The former Gor player reckons that he will catch up with Omala and lay hands on the top scorer's award at the end of the season.
"I am hungry for more league goals. I hope to bridge the gap soon and help the club achieve its objectives," stated Ombija.
Talanta take on Ulinzi Stars on Saturday looking for their fifth win of the season, while the military men will be looking to bounce back from their 0-1 loss to Kakamega Homeboyz last weekend.
