The 2023 Mozzart Bet Cup champions confirmed through their official social media platforms that the experienced attacker has recovered from a left thigh muscle strain and is now available for selection.

The former Tusker and Harambee Stars winger had not featured for the side since the league kicked off on September 20, having been sidelined for over a month.

His return offers head coach Patrick Odhiambo a timely reinforcement as the club looks to build momentum following their emphatic 3-1 victory over Bidco United in their last league outing, before the temporary suspension of fixtures in honour of the late former Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. Raila Amollo Odinga.

In the same injury update, the club also disclosed that skipper Moses Mudavadi is steadily recovering from an injury sustained in the match against Sofapaka, which has kept him out of action for two games.

Meanwhile, defender Salim Murunga remains under rehabilitation after undergoing a plastered procedure to correct an ankle sprain, though the club remains optimistic about his steady progress.

“We’re delighted to have Kevin Amwayi back with the squad after shaking off a muscle strain on his left thigh. He is now fully fit and available for selection this weekend. However, we’ll still miss our skipper Moses Mudavadi and defender Salim Murunga, who continue with their respective recovery programmes,” the club confirmed.

Homeboyz will now be seeking to secure their first back-to-back league wins of the season when they face a resilient Ulinzi Stars side, who, despite a bright start to the campaign, stumbled last week against Mara Sugar.

Victory for Homeboyz against the Soldiers would see them climb to 10 points, potentially leapfrogging Posta Rangers to temporarily occupy the top spot in the 18-team league standings.
