He is expected to resume training next week with the rest of the squad

AFC Leopards have been dealt a blow ahead of the Football Kenya Federation Premier League match against Nairobi City Stars with winger Cliff Nyakeya ruled out of the encounter due to a right calf muscle strain, the club has announced.

The developments come at a time Ingwe are missing the services of South Sudan international Saad Musa who underwent surgery last month to address a recurring shoulder injury that has kept him out of action since June.

Nyakeya, who was an integral part of the Big Cats last season, picked the knock during Ingwe’s Sunday victory over Nzoia Sugar FC at Sudi Stadium in Bungoma, which was also a maiden win for the twelve times Kenya Premier League champions.

He had recently made a crucial impact for Ingwe this term starting in the previous eight games for the club but the injury kept him out of action when the Leopards battled Kariobangi Sharks to a barren draw on Wednesday

This devastating injury has shattered Nyakeya’s hopes of contributing significantly to Leopards' match-up with Nairobi City Stars as the club hunt for a second win of the campaign under manager Tomas Trucha.

However, despite the setback, the club has announced that the speedy winger is expected to resume training next week with the rest of the squad, a move welcomed among the Leopards faithful as the club maps a route to the winning ways.

Last season, under the guidance of Patrick Aussems, Nyakeya played a vital role as a wing-back in the AFC side that secured a seventh-place finish in the FKF Premier League.

His absence will provide opportunities for other players in the squad to step up and fill the void left by the experienced winger.
