Despite picking up the injury in Mombasa, head coach Peter Okidi handed Michira another start in their subsequent clash against Tusker FC on 5 October.
However, his participation was short-lived as he was stretchered off barely ten minutes into the match after aggravating the same injury.
Shabana went on to surrender their lead, settling for a 1–1 draw with the Brewers.
Since then, Michira has missed the Glamour Boys’ recent 2–1 home defeat to Posta Rangers, their first loss of the season.
Speaking to Mozzart Sport, the diminutive forward confirmed that he will sit out of action for approximately two months, as he undergoes rehabilitation.
"I suffered an injury setback during the Bandari match. I felt some pain but carried on for the Tusker game, which unfortunately worsened it. I sustained a tear in my right groin that will keep me out for about two months,” Michira confirmed.
The injury comes as a huge blow to Shabana, as Michira has been in superb form at the start of the season.
Before the setback, he led the league’s scoring charts with three goals, having netted a brace against APS Bomet in their 4–2 victory and the solitary goal against Bandari.
Reflecting the disappointment, the forward admitted that the injury has dented his ambitions of challenging for the 'Golden Boot' but remained optimistic about making a strong comeback.
"It is a big setback ,one I had not foreseen since I was really enjoying my form. It will definitely affect my early momentum in the 'Golden Boot' race, but I am determined to come back stronger and compete again,” he added.
Meanwhile, coach Okidi’s camp is also sweating over the fitness of team captain George Onyango, who was forced off during the same Tusker encounter.
The towering defender is expected to resume training in a fortnight.
Shabana will be hoping to cope with the absence of their talisman when they return to action on Saturday,26 October in a rescheduled FKF Premier League week five fixture against Mathare United.
