The latest development means that Shumah will not feature in the tournament as it is exclusive for players in the domestic leagues
Harambee Stars have suffered a major blow ahead of the CHAN finals, as red-striker Moses Shumah has signed for Zambian Premier League giants Power Dynamos in a deal estimated to be worth USD 25,000( approximately Kshs 3,228, 675).
Shumah, who enjoyed a standout season with Kakamega Homeboyz, topped the scoring charts with 17 goals — a feat that earned him the 'Golden Boot' and offers from foreign clubs.

His move was confirmed by Power Dynamos in an official club statement announcing their new signings ahead of a what is expected to be a demanding 2025/26 season, that includes domestic league action and the CAF Champions League.
" Power Dynamos Football Club (PDFC) is pleased to announce five new acquisitions to reinforce its squad as it prepares for the 2025/26 MTN-sponsored Zambian Premier League (ZPL) season and the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Champions League," read the statement.
Shumah was already in Stars' provisional squad released by coach Benni McCarthy shortly after the Mozzart Bet Cup final.
The 23-year-old joined Kakamega Homeboyz in 2022 from Mombasa Elite and quickly made an impact, scoring on his FKF Premier League debut against Kenya Police FC.
He played a key role in helping the club lift its first-ever trophy, the Mozzart Bet Cup, in 2023—where he was also named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player (MVP)
His consistent performances at the club level earned him a call-up to the national team under then head coach Engin Firat.
He made his international debut during the Four Nations Tournament in Mauritius and scored his first goal for Harambee Stars in a 1–0 win over Pakistan on 14 June 2023.
Shumah now joins the reigning Zambian champions on a two-year deal running until 2027, and is expected to provide firepower as Power Dynamos look to defend their domestic title and make a strong impression on the continental stage.
His move to Zambia means that Stars will heavily rely on the trio of Beja Nyamawi, Emmanuel Osoro and Ryan Ogam for goals in the tournament.
Kenya will co-host the tournament alongside Uganda and Tanzania, with the final being scheduled for the Kasarani Stadium.
