Bizarre scenes in the WPL as player is sent off for biting opponent

Trans Nzoia Falcons player Elizabeth Nafula was sent off for biting an opponent in their Kenya Women Premier League match against Bunyore Starlets

Multiple Kenya Women Premier League champions Vihiga Queens saw off the visiting Nakuru City Queens with a 2-0 victory at the Mumias Sports Complex to continue their stay at the summit of the standings.

Janet Bundi scored the opener after 20 minutes with Sharlyne Opisa making it 2-0 in the 70th minute as the Boniface Nyamunyamu charges held on to the lead for the win.

Bunyore Starlets 0-1 Trans Nzoia Falcons

Bunyore Starlets were denied the chance to move to the fourth spot as they lost by a solitary goal to Trans Nzoia Falcons at the Mumboha Grounds in Luanda.

Linda Kihara scored the all-important goal in the match in the 39th minute, a goal that pushed Falcons past Zetech Sparks on the table on 13 points.

The visitors, however, had to play for the better part of the second half with a numerical disadvantage after Elizabeth Nafula was sent off in the 49th minute for biting an opponent.

Gaspo 3-1 Wadadia

Gaspo Women beat Wadadia FC 3-1 at Gems Cambridge to move to 21 points but it was not enough to reclaim the second spot with Thika Queens huge win on Saturday ensuring the goal-difference advantage for the Thika-based side.

Anna Nabwire opened the scoring in the 19th minute to see her side go into the break with a slim advantage. Emily Okute doubled the lead four minutes after the hour mark with Valentine Khwaka making it 3-0 with 15 minutes left to play.

However, Jackline Chesang pulled one back for Wadadia in the 84th minute to see the match end 3-1 in favor of the hosts.

At the Moi Stadium, Kisumu All Starlets shocked Zetech Sparks by a solitary goal at the death to record their fourth victory of the campaign and move to 13 points.

Monica Etot scored the all-important goal in the first minute of stoppage time, taking her tally for the 2022/23 campaign to eight in ten matches so far.
