The Black and Yellow did well in the Champions League last season, coming 10th in the league phase and reaching the quarter finals

The UEFA Champions League makes its return in the league phase, with European Giants Juventus hosting Borussia Dortmund at the Allianz Stadium in Turin.

Juventus, under coach Igor Tudor, have had an impeccable start to the 2025/2026 season, having played three and won all three matches against Parma, Genoa, and Inter Milan.

The Old lady had kept two clean sheets before their rollercoaster of a match over the weekend against Inter Milan.

Against Inter, Juventus took the lead but conceded moments later. They regained the lead again, only to surrender it.

Two goals in the 83rd minute and a 90+1st minute goal saw them eventually win 4-3.

Juventus will want to forget their last season Champions League exploits, where they finished in 20th spot and got eliminated in the playoff round by PSV Eindhoven.

They will hope to get better results at home in the Champions League, having lost two of the last four matches in Europe at home.

In the last four meetings between these two sides, Juventus has won two matches, with Dortmund winning the other two, while in the Champions League, Juventus has won both encounters.

The last time Dortmund visited The Old Lady in Turin, they lost 2-1 in 2015.

In Igor Tudor, Juventus have a coach who is unafraid to make bold tactical shifts; he has injected sharper transitions and a proper balance between defence and attack.

There, however, is concern among the Juventus faithful about whether Tudor has the steel to challenge European elites.

Igor Tudor lays major emphasis on having his wingbacks stretch, destabilize, and create attacking value in a match.

In his setup, Tudor creates a system where centre-backs are also expected to contribute to ball circulation, encouraging progressive passing to create patient possession when needed to break lines into attacking zones when the opponent is in a low block.

The key thing for Igor Tudor is his counter-pressing framework in his 3-4-3.

In this match, Juventus will rely on Kephren Thuram and Manuel Locatelli, who have the flexibility in operating as double or single pivots.

In Kenan Yildiz, Juventus have a player who can provide the magical moment and will look to heavily influence their attack against Dortmund with Teun Koopmeiners or Jonathan David starting alongside Dusan Vlahovic, who is in scintillating form with two goals in three matches.

Borussia Dortmund have not lost in their last three matches. They have won three and drawn one.

Under Niko Kovac, The Black and Yellow has kept a third clean sheet in four matches.

The Black and Yellow did well in the Champions League last season, coming 10th in the league phase and reaching the quarter finals. They eventually lost to Barcelona.

This season, Dortmund have won two and drawn one of three away games, continuing their unbeaten run on the road.

Last season, joint Champions League top scorer Serhou Guirassy, with 13 goals, will be looking to pick up where he left off, coming off a goal from his last game and now with five goals in four matches across all competitions.

He will be fed by Karim Adeyemi and Maximilian Beier, who both had goal contributions over the weekend.

Dortmund will, however, still not be with Niklas Sule, Emre Can, and Nico Schlotterbeck.
