With the visitors aiming to bounce straight back into first place after last weekend’s setback, the stakes are high at both ends of the table.

Strasbourg, pushing hard for a European berth, will view this clash as a yardstick against one of Ligue 1’s most consistent sides and a chance to strengthen their top-six ambitions in front of their own supporters.

The hosts come into this clash buoyed by a strong 3-1 victory over Lyon, a result that kept them seventh in the standings on 34 points from 23 matches.

Gary O’Neil’s side have won three of their last six in all competitions (W3 D1 L2), scoring 14 goals and conceding nine in that period.

Notably, their last six matches have averaged 3.83 total goals, with both teams scoring in every one of those fixtures and all six producing over 2.5 goals.

At home, Strasbourg have been particularly impressive.

They have won five of their last six competitive fixtures at the Meinau and scored multiple goals in their last two home outings.

This season, they remain unbeaten in domestic matches where they have scored at least twice, dropping points only twice in such scenarios. However, defensive solidity remains an issue: they have kept just one clean sheet in their last 10 matches.

In terms of team news, Emanuel Emegha is sidelined with a muscle tear, while Sam Amo-Ameyaw and Maxi Oyedele are doubts.

Joaquin Panichelli continues to lead the line effectively, scoring 13 league goals this season, supported by the creativity of Diego Moreira and Jeremy Enciso.

Lens arrived wounded after surrendering a 2-0 lead in a 3-2 home defeat to Monaco, a result that cost them first place.

Pierre Sage’s men sit second with 52 points from 23 matches, boasting 17 wins and a +24 goal difference.

Despite that setback, they have won four of their last six matches across all competitions, netting 16 goals in that run.

Away form has been a major strength. Lens have scored nine goals across their last three league road trips, including a 5-0 demolition of Paris FC.

They are chasing their eighth away win of the campaign, which would match last season’s entire tally.

Impressively, dating back to last term, they have won 11 consecutive domestic away matches when scoring multiple goals.

Defensively, though, there are minor concerns. They have managed just three clean sheets in their last 10 away outings. Regis Gurtner and Samson Baidoo remain out injured, while Jonathan Gradit is doubtful.

Odsonne Edouard and Florian Thauvin remain key attacking threats, both finding the net last weekend.

Historically, Lens have dominated this fixture. They are unbeaten in their last seven league meetings with Strasbourg and have won four of the last six encounters. The reverse fixture earlier this season ended in a narrow 1-0 Lens victory.

Key Betting Pointers;

  • Both teams to score (BTTS) has landed in five of Lens’ last 10 matches
  • Each of Strasbourg’s last seven games has seen both sides score
  • Lens have scored in nine of their last 10 away fixtures
  • Strasbourg have just one clean sheet in 10 matches, but have scored in every one of them

Both sides are in strong attacking form but showing defensive vulnerability.

Strasbourg have scored in each of their last 10 matches yet rarely keep clean sheets, while Lens continue to produce goals consistently on the road.

Prediction: With attacking quality on both sides and statistical trends pointing toward goals, the smart play here looks to be Both Teams to Score (BTTS)
