Wolves occupy 20th place with just 16 points and are battling to keep their faint survival hopes alive
Brentford welcome Wolverhampton Wanderers to the Gtech Community Stadium on Monday evening in a crucial English Premier League clash, as the hosts continue their push for European football.
The match kicks off with Brentford sitting seventh in the table on 44 points, while Wolves occupy 20th place with just 16 points and are battling to keep their faint survival hopes alive.
With the season entering its decisive phase, both teams approach this fixture with very different motivations - Brentford targeting continental qualification and Wolves fighting to avoid relegation.
Brentford’s recent form has been relatively steady, although not spectacular.
Across their last six matches in all competitions, the Bees have recorded two wins, three draws and just one defeat.
Their latest outing ended in a dramatic FA Cup elimination after a 2-2 draw with West Ham before losing on penalties, while their most recent league match finished in a goalless draw away to Bournemouth.
Over those six games, Brentford have scored eight goals and conceded eight, averaging 1.33 goals both scored and conceded per match.
Interestingly, only two of those matches produced over 2.5 goals, showing a trend toward tighter contests in recent weeks.
In the league standings, Brentford remain firmly in the hunt for European qualification.
However, their home form has dipped slightly after a strong start to the campaign.
The Bees have failed to win their last three Premier League matches at the Gtech Community Stadium, and four of their last five home league games have produced under 2.5 goals.
Manager Keith Andrews will be hoping his side rediscover their attacking rhythm, particularly after failing to score in their last two league matches.
Igor Thiago remains Brentford’s key attacking threat this season, leading the scoring charts for the club with 18 league goals.
He recently scored twice against West Ham in the FA Cup and continues to be the focal point of Brentford’s attack.
However, the Bees are dealing with several injury concerns.
Reiss Nelson is unavailable for this clash, while Rico Henry, Aaron Hickey, Vitaly Janelt and Josh Dasilva are also sidelined, leaving Andrews with limited depth in certain areas.
Wolves, meanwhile, arrive in London showing improved form but still facing a daunting situation in the table.
They have won three of their last six matches in all competitions, including impressive Premier League victories over Aston Villa and Liverpool.
However, their latest match ended in a 3-1 FA Cup defeat to Liverpool.
During that six-match stretch, Wolves scored eight goals and conceded seven, averaging 1.33 goals scored per game.
Despite those encouraging results, Wolves’ away form has been extremely poor this season.
The Old Gold are yet to win a single away league match, collecting just four points from 14 road games while losing ten.
They have scored only five away goals in the Premier League and have now gone 16 away league games without victory, a run stretching back to April 2025.
Even more concerning is their recent scoring drought away from home, having failed to score in their last three away league matches.
Wolves could welcome goalkeeper Jose Sa back into the starting lineup as manager Rob Edwards remains optimistic about his recovery from an ankle issue, which may end Sam Johnstone’s short spell in goal.
Midfielder Andre is also available again after serving an FA Cup suspension for accumulated yellow cards, leaving Enso Gonzalez, who is recovering from a knee injury, as the likely only absentee.
However, Andre, Joao Gomes and Yerson Mosquera are all one booking away from a two-match Premier League suspension.
Head-to-head history also favors Brentford.
The Bees have won half of the recent meetings between the two clubs, with Wolves claiming victory only once.
Brentford won the reverse fixture 2-0 at Molineux earlier this season, extending Wolves’ winless league run against them to four matches.
Key Betting Pointers;
- Three of the last four meetings between these teams produced under 2.5 goals
- Four of Brentford’s last five home league games ended with under 2.5 goals
- Wolves’ last six away league matches all produced under 2.5 goals
- Wolves have scored just five away league goals all season
Brentford should have enough quality to control the game, but Wolves’ defensive approach and poor attacking output away from home suggest a low-scoring encounter.
Prediction; Brentford vs Wolves - Under 2.5 goals
