Barnsley coach provides injury update on Clarke Oduor

After missing the last seven games for Barnsley, head coach Poya Asbaghi has revealed that Kenyan international Clarke Oduor is still set for a spell on the sidelines.

The last time Oduor featured for Barnsley was the 2-1 defeat at the hands of Premier League chasing Blackburn Rovers back in December.

Oduor has been on the treatment table for over a month now, nursing a leg injury with reports indicating that the wingback may be back in action at the end of the month.

Speaking ahead of their clash against Queen Park Rangers, Poya Asbaghi noted that Oduor will still miss some games although he failed to provide a timeline on his return.

“It’s unlikely that anyone will return, but perhaps Jasper Moon and Matty Wolfe have a chance. We are looking at Coventry City for such as Callum Brittain. Clarke Oduor is a little bit further back, and we are still waiting for clarity on Victor Adeboyejo,” said the Swedish-Iranian football manager.

Barnsley will hope to have the services of Oduor soon as they are currently enduring a torrid run of form that sees them anchored to the foot of the table having lost six games in a row.

Asbaghi has bemoaned injuries and Covid-19 that have decimated his squad having taken over the job in November last year following the sacking of Markus Schopp.

“I didn’t come here not wanting to win football games. But everyone knows it was a pretty special situation I was coming into. The injuries, the COVID cases and the team were losing every week. But of course I expected better results,” added Asbaghi.
