A somewhat strange situation in which, it seems, they will choose the Englishman, who has played fewer minutes than Torres

Barcelona are reportedly looking at player sales this summer as they try to raise funds and secure Marcus Rashford on a long-term deal.

The forward, currently on loan from Manchester United, has rediscovered his form in Spain, which has also helped him regain recognition within Thomas Tuchel’s England setup.

Recent reports suggested that Barca were exploring the option of extending his stay through another loan for the 2026–27 campaign. However, according to ESPN, United are not interested in temporary arrangements and would only sanction a permanent exit, setting his price at around £26 million.

As part of a broader attacking reshuffle — and in an effort to keep Rashford — Barcelona are now weighing up the possibility of selling Ferran Torres. The Spaniard, who arrived from Manchester City in 2022, is under contract until 2027, but the club are cautious about risking losing him for free in the future.

At the same time, Barcelona are said to be working on extending the deal of veteran striker Robert Lewandowski, whose current contract is nearing its end. Despite that, the club are also exploring options for a younger No. 9, with Julian Alvarez of Atletico Madrid emerging as a key target.

Rashford’s performances at Camp Nou have been encouraging, with 10 goals and 13 assists in 39 appearances across all competitions. Still, he faces stiff competition on the wings from Raphinha and Lamine Yamal under manager Hansi Flick.

One factor that could work in his favour is the recent re-election of club president Joan Laporta, a strong supporter of Flick — who himself is keen to keep Rashford at the club.

At the end of last year, Rashford made it clear he would be happy to remain in Barcelona, describing it as his ‘happy place’. Speaking to Spanish outlet Sport, he said: “Of course this is what I want, but it’s not the reason why I’m pushing and working hard.”
