The German coach will lead the Catalan club from the sidelines for at least one more season
Hansi Flick is set to extend his stay at Barcelona, with an agreement in place for a fresh contract that should keep him at the club until 2028, plus the option of an extra year.
His current deal was due to expire next June, but the club’s leadership—headed by Joan Laporta—were eager to secure his long-term future. While Laporta reportedly favored a longer extension, Flick chose a more measured commitment.

Since arriving in the summer of 2024, the German coach has transformed Barcelona’s fortunes. In his very first season, he delivered a remarkable domestic treble, lifting the La Liga title, the Copa del Rey, and the Supercopa de Espana.
On the European stage, Barca came agonizingly close to reaching the final of the UEFA Champions League, falling just short against Inter Milan in the semifinals.
This season, Flick has kept the momentum going. Barcelona have already added another Super Cup to their collection and are in a commanding position in La Liga, sitting 11 points clear with only five matches left to play.
The official signing of the new deal is expected once the title is mathematically secured. That moment could arrive as early as this weekend—if Barcelona defeat Osasuna and Real Madrid fail to beat Espanyol.
A week later, the spotlight shifts to the El Clasico at Camp Nou. Even if Madrid win all their remaining fixtures, overturning the current gap would take something extraordinary.
