The Harambee Stars defender has missed the last two games through injury
Johnstone Omurwa played for 90 minutes as his club, Estrela da Amadora beat Famalicao 1-0 in a Portuguese league match on Sunday evening to move up to third in the log.
The result lifts Estrela up to ninth in the log with 11 points after nine rounds of league matches. Andre Luiz’s 74th-minute goal was all Estrela needed to pick up maximum points from the duel.
Famalicao played the better part of the game, a man down after Brazilian defender Riccieli Eduardo da Silva was shown red in the 34th minute.
Up next for Omurwa and his club is an away game against Sporting CP on Sunday, November 5.
Elsewhere in Denmark, Daniel Anyembe once again sat out as his team, Viborg, picked up a point on the road after a one-all draw against Vejle. Next for Viborg is a Cup game against FC Nordsjælland on Wednesday.
Viborg coach Jacob Friis was impressed by the outcome of the game, adding that it was an entertaining duel for the fans.
“I think it was a good performance today. It wasn't perfect, but it was good and entertaining. Our fans stayed up long after the game and patted the players on the back for their efforts, so I also take that to mean that they are happy with what was delivered after all, even if we only got one point".
“We created big enough chances for more and also finished well within the frame, but we have to say that Vejle had a skilled goalkeeper in the decisive situations. I felt quite safe on the bench and also had a good feeling that we should score one more, but unfortunately, I didn't get it right. We played with a nice intensity in the game, a good offensive flow in the second half, and created plenty of chances, but sometimes the ball just doesn't want to go in, so even though we have a disappointing feeling about the result, I can't ask for much more from the players”.
The Harambee Stars defender has missed the last two games through injury, and coach Engin Firat will be hoping that he manages to shake off the injury before the World Cup qualifiers start in a fortnight.
