Asembeka, a former Sony Sugar FC, Wazito FC, and Tusker FC player joined Batoto ba Mungu on September 17.
Bandari FC have written to the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) seeking answers on how midfielder Amos Asembeka’s transfer to Sofapaka was completed without them issuing the player a release letter, terminating his contract, or releasing him on the FIFA Connect portal.
Asembeka, a former Sony Sugar FC, Wazito FC, and Sofapaka joined Batoto ba Mungu on September 17. Sofapaka announced his arrival in a short statement, accompanied by his two pictures in their colours. “We have acquired the services of Valentine Amos Asembeka from Bandari FC,” read the statement from the club.
He has since become a key player for Sofapaka in the middle of the park and scored in the team’s 3-0 win over KCB FC nine days ago.
Trouble is now brewing after the Dockers made it clear that they did not release the player and did not understand how he ended up being registered as a Sofapaka FC player. New club CEO Tony Kibwana has now written to FKF CEO Barry Otieno, seeking clarity on how the midfielder’s transfer was completed without their knowledge.
Bandari FC Letter
It is with great concern that we have noted that Sofapaka Football Club fielded player Valentine Amos Asembeka, who is a footballer of Bandari Football Club, during three consecutive matches,” reads a statement from the Dockers in part.
Against Kenya Police FC on October 21, 2023 (Match No. 55) played at Kenyatta Stadium Machakos; against Tusker FC on October 28, 2023 (Match No. 66) played at Kenyatta Stadium Machakos; against KCB FC (Match No. 78) played on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at Moi International Sports Center-Kasarani Annex Stadium; and against FC Talanta on November 4, 2023 (Match No. 85) played at Kenyatta Stadium Machakos
Port Football Club wishes to confirm that, up to date, Valentine Amos Asembeka remains our footballer on these
Grounds; -
The player has a valid contract with Bandari Football Club for 1 ½ years (from February 16, 2023, to June 30, 2024).
The club has not terminated the contract of the player yet but had talks with the player through his lawyer to ensure that a mutual termination agreement was reached, which has not been reached.
The club has been paying the player's monthly salary and is up to date with the payments.
The club has not granted the player any release letter, nor has it released him on Kenya Connect.
The club has been committed to handling the player's issues professionally and within the football rules and regulations.
Bandari Football Club wishes to therefore seek clarification or explanation as to why the player was eligible to play the above-mentioned FKF Premier League matches.
Sofapaka will this afternoon play Kakamega Homeboyz at Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega, and the player is certainly set to be left out of the game.
