Ayunga continues hot streak as Rupia suffers another defeat

Kenyan forward Jonah Ayunga extended his purple patch for Morecambe as former AFC Leopards talisman Elvis Rupia is yet to earn victory with Bisha FC in the Saudi Arabian First Divison.

Brighton and Hove Albion academy graduate Jonah Ayunga won a penalty for Morecambe in regular time but ultimately suffered a 4-2 defeat on penalties following a 2-2 draw against Hartlepool in the English Football League (EFL) Trophy.

Hartlepool took only eight minutes to open the scoring through Matty Daly who tapped home a Jordan Cook pass across the face of goal.

Morecambe levelled proceedings three minutes after the half-hour mark as Shane McLoughlin’s audacious chip in the box found the back of the net.

Ayunga who scored in the last clash against Wycombe won a penalty for Morecambe five minutes from the interval as Callum Jones stepped up to take the penalty and hand them a lead into the halftime break.

Matty Daly completed his brace in the 83rd minute to send the game into penalties which Hartlepool won after Arthur Gnahoua and Shane McLoughlin missed their spot kicks.

Elvis Rupia

Kenyan international Elvis Rupia again started Bisha FC’s 2-0 defeat to Al Jabalain in the Saudi Arabian First Divison.

Yahya Al Qarani opened the scoring for Al Jabalain in the 42nd minute as Thiago Silva converted a penalty in the 66th minute to hand them a healthy lead.

Ibrahim Al-Tahli was handed his marching orders for a second bookable offence in the 76th minute but Al Jabalain held on for their 2-0 win. 

Bisha FC are yet to earn victory on the field with their only win of the season coming after they were handed a walkover against Al Ain.

Kenyan defender Vince Harper watched Eastleigh’s 1-0 defeat to Southend in the English National League.

Nathan Ferguson scored the all-important goal in the 69th minute firing home from close range to hand Southend three vital points.
