The last time Ingwe won a trophy was back in 2017 when they beat Kariobangi Sharks in the FKF Cup final.

AFC Leopards are currently enduring a four-year trophy drought with midfielder Austin Odhiambo admitting that they stand a perfect chance of breaking the barren spell this season.

Ingwe are still fighting on all fronts for a trophy this season as they are in contention to break their 23-year league wait and are also in the semi-finals of the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Cup.

Speaking to Mozzart Sport, Austin believes that the current crop of players that are in the books of AFC Leopards stand a chance of winning at least one trophy this campaign.

“We have a really nice team, since 2017 this is one of the best squads we have had, we have good depth on the bench and also those who start,”

“The squad is really good and I think if we do not win a cup this season we might not have a better chance to do it and we are hoping that God can reward our efforts,” said Austin.

Patrick Aussems only have Equity FC separating them from the cup final where they will face either Bidco United or Gor Mahia who will battle each other on the other Sunday semi-finals.

Equity have had a fairytale run in the cup this season as the Divison One outfit eliminated cup holders Bandari in the quarterfinals and are the only lower league side left in the competition.

The midfielder also noted that Ingwe will not underrate Equity as they suffered a massive scare in the Round of 16 against Bungoma Super Stars.

“We will not underrate them, to be honest when we played against Bugoma Super Stars it was more difficult than Tusker because we were on a good pitch but they still made it tough for us,”

“They (Equity) will come to give their best, they might be in the lower leagues but they are really hardworking and we will treat every game as a final,” added Austin
