Gabon will have to rely on other players for the upcoming WC qualifying game
The World Cup qualifiers continue in Africa, and Gabon coach Thierry Muyuma's team will be visiting Mauritius today to play against the Seychelles national team, while on September 9 they will face a tough match against Ivory Coast. Muyuma will not be able to count on the strongest team in today's match - the team's first star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang injured his knee in Olympique de Marseille's last match, in a defeat against Lyon (1:0), so he will not play. Coach Muyuma will also not be able to count on Jim Alevinah and Enzo Samaka. Also, Gabon will not be able to be helped by Galatasaray player Mario Lemina, who has accumulated yellow cards and is suspended.

The late arrival of Los Angeles FC's Denis Bouanga is also a problem for Gabon, and the real question is whether he will be ready enough to help the team. The match with Seychelles, who have lost 20 of their last 22 qualifying matches, should not be a problem for Gabon, who enter the September qualifying round in second place in Group F, a point behind leaders Ivory Coast and five ahead of third-placed Burundi. The hosts have conceded as many as 30 goals in their previous six qualifying matches, and in March in Franceville, Gabon defeated them 3-0, with Jim Alewinah and Denis Bouanga scoring twice.
"We need to win six points to keep our dream of qualifying for the World Cup alive. We are not happy at all that they have scheduled us to play Seychelles on September 3. Some of our players played in Europe over the weekend and they simply cannot be ready for the match," laments Gabon coach Mujouma.
For him, the most important thing is for his team to achieve a victory, so that six days later they can try to dethrone Ivory Coast from the top of the table.
"It is clear that we will need the greatest possible support from the stands in that match. It is decided in that match, so I hope that we will have some players available who can play now" concluded the Gabon coach.
