The defender was rested early in the second half

Harambee Stars left back Clarke Oduor registered an assist when his side Hartlepool United side narrowly edged Doncaster Rovers 2-1 at the Suit Direct Stadium on Tuesday evening.

Oduor who was loaned to the English League Two side from Barnsley last month set up the opening goal in the 38th minute.

The flanker who has a Stars cap under his belt put Joshua Umerah through with the forward deservedly giving the host the lead at half time. Following the goal, the forward has now three goals in the last two matches.

Oduor was rested in the 63rd minute for Scottish defender Jake Hastie.

Four minutes after he left the pitch, Rovers levelled matters through Bobby Faulkner but the hosts had Wesley Naurettin to thank as his goal in the 86th minute handed them the first win of the season.

Reacting to the win, Hartlepool head coach, Keith Curle said he was relieved to have guided the club to the first win of the season. He reserved praises for the players for working their socks off for the win and the fans for backing the team through and through.

Hartlepool will be back in action this weekend as they are set to host Carlisle United. Rovers on the other hand have a date with Leyton Orient.
