Several clubs have lined up for the former Leicester striker, with the Italian side emerging as the favorite

Jamie Vardy decided this summer to bring his remarkable chapter at Leicester City to a close. The English striker, who first donned the Foxes’ shirt in 2012, leaves after 13 memorable years that saw him make 500 appearances and score 200 goals.

During his tenure, he lifted four trophies, including the Premier League in 2016 and the FA Cup in 2021. Even in the 2024/25 season, Vardy remained central to Leicester’s efforts, playing 36 matches across all competitions and finding the net 10 times. But after the club’s relegation from the Premier League, he opted to move on.

Now 38, Vardy has no plans to retire, confident he still has plenty to contribute. Interest has emerged from multiple clubs, including Rangers, Wrexham, and Sunderland. The forward has taken his time weighing his options, but a surprise destination may be on the horizon.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Serie A newcomers Cremonese “dreams of the arrival of Jamie Vardy.” The Italian side, promoted back to the top flight last season, have reportedly made initial contact and are awaiting his decision on whether to join their project.

A move to Cremonese would make Vardy the club’s first-ever English player and only the second from the United Kingdom after Jack Hendry. Scottish defender Henry appeared on loan for the club in the 2022/23 season, making six appearances.

Cremonese have already made a strong start to life back in Serie A. Despite facing a daunting opening day trip to AC Milan, they pulled off a stunning 2-1 win. The potential addition of Vardy could provide another significant boost as the club aims to secure its place in Italy’s top flight and avoid a swift return to Serie B.
