The Arsenal boss ordered the removal of the cover of the players' tunnel at the pitch entrance so the fans' roar would be more frightening

Mind games have always been part of football, especially thanks to managers who've found ways to hurt opponents with little tricks.

Mikel Arteta of Arsenal is one of those in the modern game.

According to some media close to the Gunners, the Arsenal boss ordered the removal of the players' tunnel at the Emirates Stadium so it would not muffle the crowd's roar and make the walk more intimidating for the rivals.

Some Arsenal fans noticed the difference during the recent pre-season friendlies, but it seems like this new setup won't be a temporary adjustment, but is there to stay for good.

There is still some protection above the walk-out area, though, with a screen installed in front of the tunnel doors. The idea is to prevent supporters from throwing things down onto players leaving the pitch, which was presumably part of the intention behind having a pull-out cover to begin with. Still, that screen should only help to amplify the noise, increasing the echo rather than muffling it.

Before this latest trick, Arsenal introduced the club's pre-match anthem and installed speakers at the training ground, which Arteta also suggested to create a more competitive atmosphere.

Would all those little tricks help the Gunners finally win some silverware? They surely hope so.
