Arteta: ‘I will sing about Ramsdale every single day’
Reading Time: 3min | Sun. 22.10.23. | 11:48
The Arsenal coach is still firm in support of David Raya
Aaron Ramsdale was again absent from Arsenal’s goal. In fact, he was absent from the team and the building. Just before the start of the 2-2 draw against Chelsea, the young keeper got a child as his wife Georgina was in labour. But still, the fans chanted his name throughout the game, especially after Mykhailo Mudryk scored a stunner for 2-0. David Raya is in trouble, as he already seems to be losing support from the Gunners, which is a nightmare scenario.
Of course, the man who stood behind him and promoted him to the first team was again by his side after the 2-2 draw and was ironic when asked by the press what he thought about fans singing Ramsdale’s name.
“Great. I love him and I will sing as well for him every single day. We sang a lot for him yesterday because he became a father - the most beautiful thing. He’s someone that has this charisma and personality and he’s very loved around the team” said Arsenal’s boss.

Mikel Arteta tries to put the pressure off Raya as much as possible, which his quite logical. He is the one who brought him in, and he now has to support him, even though he makes mistakes bigger than his predecessor Ramsdale. Since Raya became the first-choice keeper, Arteta stopped with comments regarding his revolutionary idea to chance keepers during the game and is in full mode support for the Spaniard. And Garry Neville continues to put additional pressure on Raya, since, unlike Arteta, he doesn’t have to be supportive. TV pundit and former Manchester United defender believes that the former Brentford goalie is feeling the heat after being promoted to the Premier League title-chasing team, and the fluke Mudryk goal only added to that.
“David Raya started his Arsenal career well but then he had a poor Champions League game against Lens followed by that first half against Manchester City. Now, this game. It's getting hot for him. He's got that look on his face like, "help". It's the toughest position to play and certainly when you're at one of the biggest clubs in the league, you're under the most amount of scrutiny - particularly if you're a goalkeeper. Mikel Arteta has created that, let's be clear with the Ramsdale and Raya situation. It's unusual but he says it can work. I've never believed it could, and I believe we're seeing in front of our eyes the challenges that exists because now, there is going to be pressure. Aaron Ramsdale hadn't done a lot wrong at the start of the season. Raya has now started to make mistakes” said Neville.
