Just days after the American owners said no offers for the selling of the club will be considered, new information came up
There are still some vapor tralis after the European Super League scandal. Many supporters of the clubs with owners who are running their clubs are not happy and they have ran out to the streets asking for owners to leave the club and sell it to someone who cares more about the team and the sport.
Among those most furious about their club owners were Arsenal fans, who asked for Stan Kroenke to step down.
Truth be told, Arsenal supporters were not happy with the owners even before the whole ESL situation, but participation in the new competition was the drop that spilled the bucket.
Last week news that the Swedish Spotify billionaire Daniel Ek is preparing a bid to buy Arsenal emerged.
The latest word from the international investment circuit is that, for about two years effectively, Arsenal have been on the market.
In last couple of years, it was rumoured Arsenal will be bought by the heavy hitting duo made of Russian oligarch Alisher Usmanov and Nigerian billionaire Aliko Dangote, and the asked price made by the Kroenke group was in the region of 2.3 billion USD (250 billion KSH). A deal could not be made but it did show that everyone has a price, despite what Kroenke said last week.
‘We remain 100 per cent committed to Arsenal and are not selling any stake in the club. We will not entertain any offer.’ Kroenke family recent statement read.
Manager Mikel Arteta has defended the club on all fronts in recent weeks, with fan protests against American owners turning from Kroenke Out into Arteta Out, mainly because of the bad performances the team has been giving lately.
The team are facing their worst season in 26 years in the Premier League and are on the verge of being eliminated from the Europa League.
‘Well, I don’t want to think that way. I want to think that we are going to be in that [Europa League] final and then we are going to have really positive consequences after that game.' Arteta said when asked if he fears the sack.
‘Consistency in results in the Premier League is very different to the Europa League, where we have been very consistent. We try to be as clear as we can in our messages.
‘There are some games where we have started really well and not finished that well. I don’t think there has been a pattern over the season.’
The possibility of the Swedish billionaire Ek teaming up with club legends Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp and Patrick Vieira has attracted incredible attention and those in love with the north London club would be more than happy if such turn of events would happen.
