And then came horrible December: Chelsea turn Stamford Bridge into rivals' playground

The Blues won just six out of a possible 18 points this month. Fans call for Maresca's sacking following a 2-2 draw against Bournemouth

Going into December 2025, Chelsea were in third place in the Premier League table, seriously flirting with the title quest.

Alas, then came a disastrous month for the Blues, who won just six out of a possible 18 points, transforming their once-fortress, Stamford Bridge, into a genuine playground for the rivals.

Leeds United - defeat, Bournemouth - draw, Everton - win, Newcastle United - draw, Aston Villa - defeat, and Bournemouth again last night - draw (2-2). For a club with aspirations like Chelsea, said form at such a critical stage of the season is not good enough.

According to the number of points won at home, the Blues are only in tenth place in the Premier League this season!

Andoni Iraola's Bournemouth left the mythical ground on Tuesday night with a point in their pockets, but it could have ended differently if only Unal had got it on target deep into the stoppage time.

"You don't know what you're doing", furious Chelsea fans chanted after their boss Enzo Maresca decided to sub off Cole Palmer around the hour mark.

Some half an hour later, at full time, many fans were calling for the head coach to be sacked.

Maresca, interestingly, didn't show up afterwards for media duties as the explanation was that he had been struggling with an illness for the past couple of days. His assistant Willy Caballero did that instead of Maresca, and the Italian is expected to return to the dugout for the next weekend encounter with Manchester City.
