Alpha warns local opposition to brace up for a more lethal Gor

Gor Mahia midfielder Alpha Onyango has fired warning shots to local clubs to brace themselves for a more lethal opponent when the turns focus to local action.

The record Kenyan champions were tossed out of the CAF Confederation Cup tournament after falling 2-1 to AS Otoho d'Oyo in the playoff and will now have to content in contesting for domestic titles.

K'ogalo who missed the services of the players whom the signed in the last transfer window had advanced to the playoff after prevailing in the second round where they only needed one leg of the fixture to eliminate Sudanese side Al Ahly Merowe.

 Gor who are seeking to reclaim the title after surrendering it to Tusker last season have not lost a single league contest in the campaign having won four and drawn twice in their opening six rounds.

Alpha said the experience and lessons they gathered from the continental matches they played will go a long way in serving local opposition football lessons in the league and Cup matches. 

"We return to the league armed with more courage and new tactics that we learned from the continental matches. We learnt to be more clinical and to take our chances, lessons which I believe will help us extend our unbeaten start if implemented," he said.

While expressing hopes of reclaiming the league, the soft spoken midfielder who was making his debut at the continental stage said his game had shot up to the next level owing to the exposure gained from trotting the continent.

The former national U20 midfielder feels that he can now open up defenses at will and can whip both short and long passes with more precision from the pep talks he has been having with coach Mark Harrison after every game and the advise he got from Otoho players. 

"My game has improved just from the few CAF matches we played. After every game, the coach pointed out at my weak areas that I have been working on. He wanted me to improve on my creativity and sharpen the art of making passes with precision," he added.
