The tactician lamented over the players' inability to follow instructions and adapt to the demands of the top flight
Bidco United head coach Antony Akulia has put his players on notice, promising to drop those who are not equal to the task, following their defeat to Posta Rangers.
The two sides met in an FKF Premier League match on Monday, 1 December at the Kasarani Annex, with Posta squeezing a 1-0 victory courtesy of a 30th minute strike by Brian Chonjo.
The loss extended Bidco’s winless run to six matches, including three wins and similar number of draws much to the disappointment of Akhulia, who was visibly angry at his players throughout the match.
Speaking to Mozzart Sport after the match, the former Kenya U20 national team head coach revealed to have seen enough from some of his players.
“There are players here that I feel their time is done. I cannot have players who do not know what should be done in the Premier League.
These players need to take responsibility because they are doing things that you do not expect to be done in the Premier League. When you sign a player at this level, they should understand the top tier and its demands,” roared Akhulia.
Akhulia, who played as a holding midfielder for Bidco during his active years, was weary of his team’s lackluster performance ahead of their next match against Shabana.
“With all due respect to them, when you lose to a team like Posta Rangers, what would happen when you go away to Shabana? We are losing at home and they expect things to be okay.
Posta celebrated this win as if they have won the league because it means so much to them while for us, we are playing as if everything is normal. This is totally unacceptable,” he added.
The 41-year-old was even more agitated at his players for their tactical indiscipline which partly attributed for the loss.
“When you are playing at home, you should always think of how you will reach the opponent’s half and in training, they are showing they can do it. When it comes to matches, they drop that and come up with their own ideas.
You tell them (players)to keep the ball down and play short quick passes in possession then they resort to long balls. We are playing like an amateur team yet we have been in the league for six years,” he added.
