Akhulia admits it will be 'tough' as Bidco look for first win over Gor

The two teams have met seven times across all competitions in the last two years

Bidco United head coach Anthony Akhulia admits that playing Gor Mahia is always a big task ahead of Saturday’s meeting between the two sides at the Moi Kasarani Stadium.

The defending league champions will play host to Akhulia’s men in an FKF Premier League encounter that both sides will be out to bag maximum points from. Last weekend, United drew 0-0 with Murang’a Seal at the Kasarani Annex, while at the Kasarani main stadium, Gor Mahia saw off Tusker FC by a solitary goal.

The two teams have met seven times across all competitions in the last two years. Four of the games have ended in one-all draws, while the other three have ended in Gor Mahia’s favour. The defending league champions won both encounters last season.

Ahead of Saturday’s 4 PM showdown, Akhulia admits that he anticipates a tough match and has advised his charges to minimize the mistakes against a Gor side led by an in-form Benson Omala, who leads the scorers' chart in the FKF Premier League with seven goals after seven rounds of league assignments.

“Playing Gor Mahia is never easy, and that’s why I insist we should have done all we could to win against Murang’a Seal. Against Gor, we have to do better. We have to minimize the mistakes we make, be more hungry, and do better than we did last Sunday against Murang'a, where our performance was lethargic,” he said.

He further revisited the display against Murang’a Seal, and he says he wants to see his team build up on their second-half performance when Gor comes knocking.

“Our first-half performance against Murang’a Seal was horrendous, but we stepped up in the second, and that is a performance that we have to build up on. We need to start to make the chances that we create count by scoring."
