Harambee Stars have dropped one place in the latest FIFA Ranking released by football’s world-governing body, FIFA.
Kenya was last month ranked in position 109, and they have now plummeted a position down and now occupy the 110th position in the global ranking. There was also a drop in the number of points, from 1186.85 to 1184.14.
During the October international break, Harambee Stars featured in one friendly match against Russia in Turkey, securing a 2-2 draw through goals from Teddy Akumu and Masoud Juma, but with the 2018 World Cup hosts banished by both FIFA and UEFA, the game did not count for anything in the rankings released by the world football governing body.
In East Africa, Uganda remains the top side at position 90 globally. They have equally dropped a place in the latest rankings.
Continentally, Kenya are ranked in the 24th position, with Morocco occupying the top spot. The Atlas Lions are ranked in position 13 globally. African champions Senegal, Tunisia, Algeria, and Egypt occupy the four other top positions on the continent in that order.
Globally, there were no movements in the top five positions. World champions Argentina maintain the top position, followed by France, Brazil, England, and Belgium in that order.
Stars will be in action later this month when the World Cup qualifiers start with an away game against Gabon on November 13, followed by another away duel against the Seychelles seven days later. Coach Engin Firat is expected to release his squad for the two matches next week, ahead of the final international break of the year.
