OCG Nice boss agrees on a deal with the most decorated club in the Netherlands and one of Europe's most distinguished powerhouses

Ajax Amsterdam has broken their almost three-decade-long tradition of acquiring only domestic coaches, as they are on the verge of signing Italian manager Francesco Farioli.

The 35-year-old tactician will join the Dutch giants from the French Ligue 1 side OCG Nice, where his contract runs until 2025.

De Telegraaf reports that Ajax will pay Nice a sum of 1.25 million euros for the promising strategist.

The most decorated Eredivisie club has been looking for a new coach for months. Louis van Gaal, the club's former boss and now Supervisory Board adviser, said he does not have the energy to work with a team every day. Erik ten Hag is still under contract at Manchester United, and Graham Potter rejected a possible deal after several conversations with the Amsterdam club.

The last foreign coach in the Ajax dugout before Farioli was Danish tactician Morten Olsen, who was at the helm during the 1997-98 season and first few months of the following campaign.
