Obviously, the fight is anything but over...

Juventus president Andrea Agnelli insists that the European Super League project didn't fail and that as many as 12 clubs had put their signature on the mutual agreement.

Agnelli, speaking at the Financial Times Business of Football summit in London on Thursday, said of the European Super League:

"To me, it is not a failure. We have been hearing projects of potential breakaway leagues ever since I was a teenager.

"Last year was the first time that not one, not two, not three, but 12 clubs made a very important statement that was a profound alarm to the system."

Agnelli was part of the European Super League leadership group alongside Real Madrid chairman Florentino Perez, Manchester United co-chairman Joel Glazer, Liverpool owner John W. Henry and Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke.

The formation of the 12-club European Super League led to widespread condemnation, which eventually saw Premier League sides Chelsea, Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur all withdraw from the competition.
