Mozzart Sport understands that the 29-year-old has joined Ingwe from Uganda Premier League side BUL FC, becoming the latest addition to a heavily revamped goalkeeping department following a busy transfer window.
Ikara's arrival comes after the exits of two goalkeepers, with first-choice custodian Humphrey Katasi sealing a move to fierce rivals Gor Mahia while fellow Ugandan James Ssetuba is understood to be closing in on a return to Kakamega Homeboyz.
With the departures leaving significant gaps between the posts, AFC Leopards have moved swiftly to reinforce the department.
Ikara joins fellow new arrivals Sebastian Wekesa from Kariobangi Sharks and Issa Emuria from Bidco United as head coach Fred Ambani reshapes his options ahead of the new campaign.
The experienced shot-stopper arrives in Nairobi carrying an impressive résumé built over several seasons in Ugandan football.
He enjoyed two spells at BUL FC, establishing himself as one of the league's most dependable goalkeepers thanks to his commanding presence, consistency and excellent shot-stopping ability.
His outstanding performances saw him clinch the Uganda Premier League Golden Glove award during the 2023/24 season after finishing the campaign with the highest number of clean sheets.
Before starring for BUL, Ikara featured for Ugandan giants KCCA FC, where he won the 2018/19 Uganda Premier League title before helping the club lift the CECAFA Kagame Cup in 2019.
He has also represented the Uganda Cranes at the senior international level, adding valuable experience to an AFC Leopards side keen on competing for major honours.
Ikara becomes the second Ugandan signing made by Ingwe this transfer window after experienced midfielder Taddeo Lwanga arrived from Vipers SC, underlining the club's growing confidence in recruiting proven talent from the region.
Leopards are expected to remain active in the market before the transfer window closes as they seek to strengthen other key areas of the squad.
The club heads into the new season with renewed optimism after narrowly missing out on the FKFPL title last term, finishing second behind arch-rivals Gor Mahia by five points.
Having assembled a blend of experienced campaigners, Ingwe will be hoping the arrival of Ikara further solidifies their defensive unit as they chase a first league crown since 1998.
