The 12-time champions’ winless start to the new campaign extended to a third consecutive match after failing to break down the resilient coastal outfit, leaving Ingwe faithful frustrated as the search for a first victory continues.
The apology came in the wake of mounting pressure from sections of the club’s supporters, who have expressed growing dissatisfaction with the team’s performance and demanded improved results.
Some fans issued a two-match ultimatum in writing to the technical bench, demanding victories against Bandari and in the upcoming fixture against KCB FC, warning that failure to do so would prompt calls for resignations.
Tensions flared after the final whistle, with angry fans blocking the team’s exit from the stadium, some voicing demands for changes within the technical team.
Speaking to Azam Sports TV during the post-match interview, Ambani appealed for calm while taking responsibility for the underwhelming result.
"It's very unfortunate not to win and I want to apologise to our fans for not winning the match because that’s what they come to enjoy,” Ambani said.
“I’m humbly asking them to be patient, and I urge them to continue supporting the team. Hopefully, we will turn the tide in the upcoming fixtures.”
The former Kenya international admitted disappointment with the draw, acknowledging that his side missed several scoring opportunities that could have sealed the much-needed victory.
"We are not happy with the draw because it is not the result we wanted,” he added. “We played poorly in the first half, but we improved after the break and created chances. Unfortunately, we couldn’t capitalise, and that cost us the win.”
Despite the setback, the result maintained AFC Leopards’ unbeaten record, taking their tally to three points from as many matches.
However, the club slipped further down the 18-team standings, now sitting 15th, a point just above Murang’a Seal and Tusker FC.
