The match marked the final 2025 fixture of the local league calendar, with the FKF Premier League set to take a two-week break to allow stakeholders to observe the Christmas and New Year festivities.

On the pitch, Bidco United, still searching for goals, reshuffled their attacking line from the side that lost 1-0 to Kariobangi Sharks.

Head coach Anthony Akhulia, who had previously expressed concern over his team’s lack of firepower, made changes as Eric Gichimu and Brian Mboya made way for Simon Abuko and Idris Amadi.

AFC Leopards, meanwhile, named an unchanged starting XI for the fourth consecutive match, the same side that beat Gor Mahia in the Mashemeji Derby, drew 0–0 with Kenya Police FC, and defeated Ulinzi Stars 2–1.

Ingwe started brightly and nearly took the lead in the third minute, but captain Victor Omune failed to keep his acrobatic volley on target.

The game then settled into a midfield battle, with few clear-cut chances created as Ingwe pushed to go top of the table while Bidco sought to maintain their recent dominance over Leopards and collect vital points to halt a poor run of form.

The breakthrough came just before the half-hour mark when left-back Samuel Semo gave Leopards the lead.

The former Murang’a Seal FC defender was picked out by Julius Masaba and made no mistake, volleying past Issa Emuria to hand Fred Ambani’s side a deserved advantage heading into the break.

Bidco United responded with triple substitutions at halftime as Amos Ochieng, Collins Akite, and Kassim Mwando were withdrawn for Brian Mboya, Raila Christopher, and Jacob Onyango in a bid to inject urgency and attacking threat.

The changes sparked improvement from the Thika-based side, who pressed hard in the second half.

Ten minutes after the restart, Humphrey Katasi produced a superb save to deny Abuko a goal against his former club. Francis Kamau delivered a pinpoint cross, but Katasi reacted sharply to keep Abuko’s header out.

Bidco continued to push, forcing Leopards to retreat and remain compact for long spells, but Ingwe defended resolutely to protect their slender advantage.

The 12-time league champions held on for the 1–0 victory to end the year at the summit of the FKF Premier League standings with 24 points, level with Tusker FC but ahead on goal difference and with two games in hand.

Bidco United, on the other hand, remain 15th on the table with 14 points, just one place and one point above the relegation zone.
