Murang'a Seal are struggling to keep pace after stretching their winless run to nine matches following defeat to Posta Rangers
Defending champions Gor Mahia can rest easy at the summit of the Football Kenya Federation Premier League after their bitter rivals AFC Leopards did them a massive favour on Sunday.
Leopards beat Nairobi City Stars 2-0 on Sunday at Bukhungu Stadium; a result that benefited their eternal rivals Gor in a way as Simba wa Nairobi are closest challenger to K’Ogalo in the title race.
Had Leopards lost, City Stars would have moved to seven points within the reach of Gor who are yet to lose a game thus far in the season.
Ingwe who are unbeaten in five games in a row took the lead in the 48th minute through Maxwell Otieno and would seal the three points in the Kevin Kimani doubled the advantage in the 72nd minute.
City Stars finished with ten men after their skipper Calvins Masawa was sent off deep into stoppage time.
The result brought City Stars' seven-game winning streak to a screeching halt as well as made a significant puncture in their title hunt as the third-placed team secured maximum points.
City Stars find themselves under pressure as besides Gor pulling ten points clear, Posta Rangers are a point behind their back having beaten Murang’a Seal 1-0 at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.
Brian Marita struck the match-winning goal late in the second half to see the mailmen get back to winning ways after a two-match losing streak.
The league debutants who appointed coach Abdallah Juma earlier in the week have gone for nine matches without a win.
Earlier on at the same venue, a goal-fest was witnessed as Bidco United whipped FC Talanta 5-3.
Goals from John Walubuka, Chris Owino, Desmond Agofa, Brian Mboya, and Erick Michubu were all on target for the Thika-based club
Brian Wafula and Alex Juma who was facing his former employer replied for Talanta.
