After scoring in two consecutive games, Aboud Omar was unfortunate to suffer an injury in the win over Apollon Larissa.
Kenyan international Aboud Omar was stretchered off after suffering an injury in Ionikos 1-0 win over Apollon Larissa in the Greek Super League 2 on Wednesday 10 February.
The injury brings to a halt his two-game goal-scoring streak for the Greek side after netting in games against Panachaiki and Ierapetra.
Omar went down in the 78th minute and was replaced by Nikolaos Moustakis as Lonikos held on for the 1-0 win to extend their unbeaten run to five games.
After a barren first half Ionikos returned a much-rejuvenated side and grabbed the lead in the 56th minute when the goalkeeper made a hush of a cross with Matias Castro on hand to tap into the open net.
This was Castro’s fourth goal of the season and makes it three consecutive wins for Ionikos who are just a point off the top of the table.
Ionikos are yet to provide an injury update on Aboud but will be hoping he does not stay on the treatment table for long as he has been a vital cog in the wheel of the team.
Aboud was knocking on the door for a Harambee Stars comeback to the squad owing to his fine form after missing since the 2019 African Cup of Nations.
KCB David Messi Owino has slotted in the left-back position in the qualifiers against Comoros with Eric Marcelo Ouma injured.
Kenya is set to take on Egypt and Togo in the final set of fixtures in Group G on Monday 22 March and Tuesday 30 March at home and away respectively.
