Barcelona keeper finally signed his medical documents

When Barca plays beautiful football, you’d think everything is like heaven at Nou Camp — and then, out of nowhere, a mess erupts with Marc-Andre ter Stegen. The situation with the experienced goalkeeper heated up last season when he refused, as captain, to give the traditional speech to the fans after the final match of the season. On top of that, the signing of Joan García as competition between the posts further irritated Ter Stegen, to the point that he refused to sign the medical report on his injury status, putting the club in a position where it couldn’t register new players. He was also stripped of the captain’s armband. However, just when it seemed things were going to get even worse, reconciliation happened.

After several days of tension and mutual accusations, it seems the rift between Barca and Ter Stegen has become a thing of the past. The former Borussia Monchengladbach goalkeeper broke his silence and expressed a desire to set things right. The German goalkeeper’s openness quickly led to an agreement between the “warring parties.” Barcelona issued a statement explaining that Ter Stegen had signed the authorization to submit the medical report on his injury status, allowing the registration of the new signings.

The Catalan club announced the closure of the disciplinary proceedings and the return of the captain’s armband to Marc’s arm, which had temporarily been the duty of Ronald Araujo. The brilliant goalkeeper missed most of last season due to a serious knee injury and is under contract until 2028. It only remains to be seen how the team will react to Ter Stegen’s behavior when the veteran returns to the pitch, which should be in about two months.
