Can Ajax then provide a new manager for Tottenham?

Jose Mourinho is in the past at White Hart Lane, Ryan Mason is an interim manager. There were rumours the North Londoners wanted to sign Julian Nagelsmann - however, the young German manager chose Bayern Munich.

Tottenham tried persuading Leicester City's manager Brendan Rodgers to become the next manager of the Spurs... And failed.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is aware that Rodgers is not that eager about becoming Tottenham’s next boss.

Northern Irishman is close to getting Leicester back into the Champions League and wants the opportunity to guide the team he has built against the best in Europe.

Ex-Liverpool manager also has quite a role in Leicester’s football operation and that is not something he will have if he moves to London.

With Rogers out of the picture, Ajax boss Erik Ten Hag emerged as a candidate.

Tottenham intend to find a manager with a clear attacking style therefor Ten Hag and his way of working with the Dutch giants Ajax caught the attention of the Spurs.

The Ajax coach is likely to be relatively cheap to release from his existing contract since his current deal expires at the end of next season, meaning it will suit Tottenham who, due to the impact of Covid, are working within 'tight' funds.

Ajax already clinched their domestic title, second under the 51-year-old Ten Hag.

Apart from the Dutchman, names that were mentioned to take over the managerial role at Tottenham were Roberto Martinez, Gareth Southgate, Ralf Rangnick,...

Young Ryan Mason will manage the team until the end of the current season but it will be a huge surprise if we see Mason as the head coach during the next campaign.
