Winning start for Kenyan athletes in Youth Commonwealth Games

On day two, Kenyan Beach Volleyball girls Abigail Chebet and Sharon Jepkogei reached the quarter finals after beating the hosts 2-0
Janet Chepkoech got team Kenya off to an electric start by completely dominating heat one of the women's 1500m and her teammate Nancy Cherop followed with a win in similar fashion in the second heat.
In the men's category the story was no different as Josephat Sang and Andrew Kiptoo easily cruised to the finish line to win their heats respectively, and book slots in the finals.
Cyclists Daniel Kiptala and Billy Graham in their road race put in a spirited fight which saw them finish 14th and 15th in a photo finish - both timing 1:33.15, as did everyone from fourth to nineteenth.
In Tobago the girls rugby registered a second win when they ran rampage over hosts Trinidad and Tobago 48-0.

The second match of the day was however different as the Young Lionesses fell to Australia 45-0. The team will play Canada today in the last match of the round robin format fixture.
In Para athletics, T35 women's 100m had Faith Kavithi finishing 4th in the semis to book a slot in the finals, but she later on in the evening was unable to finish her race after she tripped and fell.
In the T38 men's 100m semis, Randy Odhiambo managed to make it to the finals in which he finished seventh out of eight.
In Swimming, Sara Mose got to swim a personal best in the women's 50m backstroke and 50m free, while Aker Mutinda swam a personal best in the men's 50m fly as well as the 100m free.
On day two, Kenyan Beach Volleyball girls Abigail Chebet and Sharon Jepkogei displayed sheer dominance, extending their winning streak to two consecutive victories to get a quarter-finals slot, while athletes Iman Maria and Abdul Bagha showcased their mettle in a fiercely competitive super sprint field, to finish 20th and 24th positions, clocking 38:14 and 44:09 respectively.
